About MacKay
Why We Build
Some of the most important things we build are the ones people rarely notice.
01The Nature of the Work
Every day, millions of people rely on roads carved through mountains, bridges spanning rivers, flood protection quietly doing its job, and the infrastructure that powers communities, industries, and economies.
Most never stop to think about how it got there. They simply trust that it will be there tomorrow. When it's built well, it becomes invisible. Until it doesn't.
At MacKay, we’ve always believed our work is about far more than moving earth, placing concrete, or constructing roads. It’s about creating the foundations that allow people, communities, and industries to move forward with confidence.
02Building Things That Matter
What matters is
what it makes possible.
A highway isn’t simply pavement. It connects communities, keeps supply chains moving, and strengthens regional economies.
A railway isn’t simply steel and ballast. It’s a critical link that keeps industries operating and goods moving across North America.
An airport expansion isn’t simply concrete and asphalt. It creates new opportunities for travel, commerce, and growth.
Flood protection isn’t simply earthwork. It protects homes, businesses, and the communities that depend on them.
Mining infrastructure isn’t simply construction. It enables the production of resources modern society depends on.
Environmental restoration isn’t simply reclamation. It’s an investment in healthier ecosystems and future generations.
The projects may look different, but the responsibility is always the same: build them well, because people will depend on them long after construction is complete.
That’s the work that inspires us.
03Trusted to Deliver
Every project begins with trust.
Our clients trust us with critical infrastructure, complex construction challenges, significant investments, and environments where the consequences of getting it wrong are real. We believe that trust is earned through preparation, communication, and disciplined execution. Not promises.
Responsibility means understanding that every decision matters. From planning and risk management to environmental stewardship and quality, we approach every project with the same objective: deliver the right solution and execute it well.
When the work is complete, the infrastructure should speak for itself. Communities simply expect the road to be open, the bridge to perform, the water to flow, and the flood protection to hold.
So do we.

04Our Story
Since 1986.
MacKay was founded in 1986 in the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia, in a region shaped by mining and home to one of the world's most significant lead-zinc mines, the Sullivan Mine. Those early projects established a foundation of practical problem-solving that continues to shape the way we build today.
Our reputation was earned by taking on increasingly complex projects, solving difficult problems, and continually raising our own standard.
Over the decades, our work expanded beyond mining into transportation, utilities, environmental restoration, climate resilience, and other complex heavy civil infrastructure. Today, MacKay delivers complex heavy civil, mining, environmental, transportation, and utility infrastructure projects across Western Canada and the United States. The projects have evolved. Our commitment to practical problem-solving, disciplined execution, and continual improvement remains the same.

05What We Stand For
We BUILD.
How we build matters as much as what we build.
Be Safe Always
Safety comes first. Every decision, every task, and every project starts with protecting our people and those around us.
Unified as a Team
Trust. Effort. Attitude. Mission. We work as one team, take responsibility for each other, and succeed together.
Integrity & Accountability
We do what we say we'll do. We take ownership of our decisions, our actions, and the results.
Lead with Innovation & Excellence
We challenge the way things have always been done, look for better solutions, and continually raise our own standard.
Drive Positive Impact
We build things that matter. Our work should leave communities, infrastructure, and the places where we work better for having been there.
06Building for the Future
The infrastructure we build today will serve communities, industries, and future generations for decades to come.
The needs of tomorrow will continue to evolve. Communities will grow. Industries will change. New technologies will reshape how projects are delivered, and new challenges will demand new solutions.
Meeting those challenges means never standing still.
We'll continue investing in our people, strengthening our technical capabilities, embracing innovation where it creates value, and continually raising our own standard. Because the work will keep changing, and we intend to keep getting better.
After four decades, one thing remains unchanged.
Our commitment to practical problem-solving, disciplined execution, and building infrastructure that stands the test of time.
We're proud of where we've come from.
We're excited about what comes next.
